Dubai Hosted UAE's First Electric Scooter Race
The move aims to promote green and eco-friendly sports in the region
Dubai: On 16 December 2023, the Dubai Electric Scooter Cup culminated in the UAE's Year of Sustainability. It united the world's best riders to race on the fastest electric scooter around the streets of Dubai. This move came as Dubai and the Kingdom wanted to promote green and eco-friendly sports for the people living in the region.
Celebrating sustainability, new mobility, safety and inclusivity, sixteen top male and female riders competed in a knockout-style race at speeds of over 100 kph for the title of the first Dubai Electric Scooter Cup Champion - a spectacle to watch.
Designed specifically for the Dubai Electric Scooter Cup, the RS-Zero DXB edition was the fastest electric race scooter globally, with a top speed of over 140 kph. It is state-of-the-art in its technology, has a lean angle of over 58 degrees and is designed to be the ultimate in elite performance.
The Federation for Micromobility and Sport spearheads the development of micromobility as an exciting new form of racing and a more sustainable form of urban mobility. This cooperation with the Dubai Sports Council to host the first-ever Dubai Electric Scooter Cup aimed to pioneer safety, infrastructure, and technology development in the fast-growing micromobility sector.
The critical attributes of electric scooter racing are that the sport is, and will remain, the cheapest and most cost-efficient form of motorsport. The races, as well as the scooter itself, are the motorsport with the lowest CO2 output. The sport will also act as an accelerator for new technologies, making the entire micro-mobility sector safer, more socially acceptable and regulated. Moreover, the sport comes to the spectators in the urban environment because it can.
